Rules of Operation and Conduct/Fees


  • Classroom (total of 6-hours)
  • Attendance/Absence Policy: Any student who is tardy for more 15 minutes will be barred entry upon Instructor’s discretion. 
  • Re-enrollment fee / Transfer fee: A $50 re-enrollment fee will apply if the student is late, logs out early, or violates any of the terms and conditions.
  • Grading and Progress Policy: Mastery is a pre-requisite to awarding a grade of 70 or above. Evidence of mastery shall be determined by one or more of the following methods: 1) unit tests; 2) written assignments; 3) skills performance checklist; 4) comprehensive examinations of knowledge and skills; and 5) oral instruction. The student must complete the full 6 hours of instruction in order to receive the applicable certificate of completion.
  • School Appropriate Attire: If Student is dressed inappropriately, he/she will be dismissed from the class. 
  • Remote Instructor-Led Policy: Students will need internet access and their own personal email account to receive and transmit assignments. Students must be logged in on time and remain visible throughout the entire class. Students may only log off after the instructor gives permission. Only registered students may attend and participate in the class; parents or others are not allowed to join. Students must have a designated workspace for attending class, unless they’ve received prior approval to do otherwise.
  • Remote Self-Paced Policy: Students have 30 days to complete the online class from the date of enrollment. Failure to complete the course within this period will require re-enrollment and full payment of the program fee.


  • Behind the Wheel lessons
  • Private In Car lessons: All In-car lessons will be conducted in one-on-one format consisting of the student driver and the instructor. No other occupants will be allowed.
  • Credit Validity and Transferability: Students have six (6) months from the date of purchase to complete their In-Car lessons. After this period, any unused credit will expire, become non-refundable, and the student will need to re-register and restart the program. This credit is transferrable to another student before it expires.
  • Cancellation Notice for Driving Lessons: All cancellations of driving lessons must be made at least 24 hours in advance of the lesson’s start time. Students who do not cancel their lessons at least 24 hours in advance will be charged a $60 cancellation fee per lesson scheduled. Cancellations can be made via the student’s NDS account portal, or by speaking directly to a member of the office in-person or over the phone. Text messages, emails, voicemails left for Nova staff, or any communication with the driving instructor, are not sufficient notice and will not be accepted as cancellation notifications. Should a student request to end a lesson early, the remaining lesson time will be considered forfeit, and additional hours can be purchased.
  • Grading and Progress Policy: In-Car Instruction is graded based on mastery of concepts Students in a multi-day BTW program will not be permitted to schedule their Road Test if the instructor determines that they are not ready to take the exam. The instructor may recommend additional time or lessons to reach the level of skill needed for $75 per lesson.




  • General Information
  1. Student Conduct: Students will be dismissed or barred from the class for tardiness, drunkenness, or consumption of alcohol, rude, vulgar or disruptive behavior in the car, smoking or using tobacco products, inappropriate attire, being inattentive (sleeping, reading, cell phone out, etc.), or excessive talking during class. 
  2. Students penalized for violating rules of conduct will be allowed to re-enter the classroom/car upon resolution of the problem. No REFUNDS for this listed under section on General Information a. 
  3. Footwear Policy: Students may not wear sandals, Crocs, or open-toed/heeled shoes of any kind during driving lessons. Shoes must cover both the toes and the heels of the student. Students with inappropriate footwear will be charged a $60 cancellation fee.
  4. The School does not guarantee the Student a driver’s license.
  5. Waiver of Liability: The School neither assumes nor accepts any liability for the driving performance of any student to whom the School issues a Driver’s Education Certificate.
  6. The School maintains vehicle insurance as required by the Transportation Code, Chapter 601, including coverage for uninsured or underinsured motorists.
  7. The Student is solely responsible for his/her behavior and the cost of any damage he/she inflicts upon any Nova Driving School property.
  8. If the student transfers to another school or Driver Ed program, timelines may change and credits for In-Car instruction may not be transferable to the new driver training school.
  9. Program Cancellation Policy: Students have 24- hours to cancel their enrollment in the school after registration has been completed. If tuition is collected in advanced and the student does not enter school, terminates enrollment, or withdraws within the 24-hour cancellation privilege, the school will retain $50.00 administrative expense from the cost paid for Driver Education Classroom or In-Car Instruction. If the 24-hour cancellation privilege has expired from time of registration into our school, NO REFUND will be issued. 
  10. Refund Policy: A full refund of all tuition and fees is due and refundable only in each of the following cases: when an enrollee is not accepted by the school for reasons that listed under general information “a” or that may jeopardize the safety of any individual; if the course of instruction is discontinued by the school at this location; due to medical emergency; All refunds need to be requested in writing. Refunds shall be completed within 30 days after the effective date of termination. To refund a credit card, there is a $25 service charge.
  11. Refunds and other fees: All payments are final, and Nova Driving School will not refund any fee or portion of any payments, so long as NDS and its staff/instructors are capable and willing to perform their part of this service agreement unless otherwise circumstances falling under section J under General Information. 
  12. There is a $40 return CHECK fee for bounced checks, even if the check clears when ran a 2nd time.
  13. When you have finished your driver’s education course, please give us 7 BUSINESS days’ notice to fill out your paperwork showing that you have completed this course. The electronic certificate may be emailed upon request.
  14. Completion Paperwork must be picked up within 3 years after completing Drivers Education.
  15. Video and Sound Recording Release and Consent: By enrolling in any program at Nova Driving School, you are irrevocably giving consent to Nova Driving School, its officers, agents, employees, successors, licensees, and assigns to use your image, likeness, appearance, video or sound recordings for your safety and quality control purposes. The video and sound recordings may also be used for any educational, training, promotional, advertising, or informational purposes, but never for any commercial use. Nova Driving School will only share the image, likeness, appearance, video and sound recordings with its agents, employees, successors, licensees, and assigns. All rights, title and interest in the image, likeness, appearance, video and sound recordings belong solely to Nova Driving School.

STUDENT ACKNOWLEDGMENT I have been furnished with the school’s tuition and fees; cancellation and refund policy; and school regulations pertaining to absence, grading policy, progress, and rules of operation and conduct.  I further realize that any grievances not resolved by the school may be forwarded to:  TDLR PO BOX 12157 AUSTIN TX 78711.  Telephone: (800) 803-9202 or 512-463-6599. www.tdlr.texas.gov/complaints   

  • This agreement constitutes the entire contract between the school and the student and no verbal assurances or promises not contained herein shall bind the school or the student.
  • The school is prohibited from issuing an ADE-1317 if the student has not met all of the requirements for course completion, and the student should not accept an ADE-1317 under such circumstances.

Teen Classroom and In-Car Instruction & In-Car Only Instruction

Rules of Operation and Conduct/Fees


  • Teen Classroom (total of 24-hours)
  • Attendance/Absence Policy: If the Student is absent more than 5 classes, he/she will be removed from the program. Any student who is absent for 5 minutes for any 60-minute session will be charged with full hour of absence. 
  • Re-enrollment fee / Transfer fee: On the 11th hour of absence, the student is dropped from the class and there will be a $50 re-enrollment fee for another class. If the student drops the class and transfers to another class within Nova Driving School, same price will be assessed.
  • Classroom make-up Policy: The student may miss up to 5 classes, but any missed classes must be made up within 30- days of the student’s classroom instruction end date at the time of enrollment. Make up classes are held following or coincide with Student’s enrolled class. If the 30-day deadline date for classroom makeup instruction is not met, Student will have to retake the course over by paying the initial cost of Classroom instruction, an online course, or with another driving school.  
  • Grading and Progress Policy: Mastery is a prerequisite to awarding a grade of 70 or above. Evidence of mastery shall be determined by one or more of the following methods: 1) unit tests; 2) written assignments; 3) skills performance checklist; 4) comprehensive examinations of knowledge and skills; and 5) oral instruction.
  • Student and Parent Orientation: Students & Parents must attend the Orientation or the student will not be allowed to start the Classroom Program. 
  • School Appropriate Attire: If Student is dressed inappropriate, he/she will be dismissed from the class. 
  • Remote Lesson Policy: Students will need internet access and their own personal email account to receive and transmit assignments. Students must be logged in on time and remain visible throughout the entire class. Students may only log off after the instructor gives permission. Only registered students may attend and participate in the class; parents or others are not allowed to join. Students must have a designated workspace for attending class, unless they’ve received prior approval to do otherwise.
  • 14 Hours Teen In-Car (7 hours Behind the Wheel, 7 hours of Observation)
  • Group Lessons: All In-car lessons will be conducted in a group format, consisting of one student driver and up to two observers. This setup will provide hands-on experience and reinforce driving techniques in a supportive learning environment 
  • Credit Validity: The Student has six (6) months to complete the 14-hours of In-Car lessons from the first day of the classroom program. After 6 months, the credit will expire and will be non-refundable. Your teen student will have to re-register and begin the program again. This credit is transferrable to another student before it expires.
  • Out of the 14-hour lessons, at least one (1) of the drive times must be driven at night. 
  • Classroom Completion: The student is not allowed to begin In-Car instruction until all 24 Classroom instructional hours have been completed.

If tuition is collected in advanced and the student does not enter school, terminates enrollment, or withdraws within the 24-hour cancellation privilege, the school will retain $50.00 administrative expense from the cost paid for Teen Driver Education Classroom and In-Car Instruction. If the 24-hour cancellation privilege has expired from time of registration into our school, NO REFUND will be issued. 
  11. Refund Policy: A full refund of all tuition and fees is due and refundable only in each of the following cases: when an enrollee is not accepted by the school for reasons that listed under general information a & b or that may jeopardize the safety of any individual; if the course of instruction is discontinued by the school at this location; due to medical emergency; All refunds need to be requested in writing. Refunds shall be completed within 30 days after the effective date of termination. To refund a credit card, there is a $25 service charge.
  12. Refunds and other fees: All payments are final, and Nova Driving School will not refund any fee or portion of any payments, so long as NDS and its staff/instructors are capable and willing to perform their part of this service agreement unless otherwise circumstances falling under section J and k under General Information. No Refund will be issued for student missing more than 10 hours of class
  13. There is a $40 return CHECK fee for bounced checks, even if the check clears when ran a 2nd time.
  14. If you choose to do your driving at home and the DPS wants us to fill out another DE-964, there will be a $25 charge. Duplicate Certificates will also be for $25 (allow 5 business days).
  15. When you have finished your driver’s education course, please give us 7 BUSINESS days’ notice to fill out your paperwork showing that you have completed this course. The electronic certificate may be emailed upon request.
  16. Completion Paperwork must be picked up within 3 years after completing Drivers Education.
  17. Video and Sound Recording Release and Consent: By enrolling your teen in a program at Nova Driving School, you (the parent/legal guardian/responsible adult) are irrevocably giving consent to Nova Driving School, its officers, agents, employees, successors, licensees, and assigns to use your teen’s image, likeness, appearance, video or sound recordings for your teen’s safety and quality control purposes. The video and sound recordings may also be used for any educational, training, promotional, advertising, or informational purposes, but never for any commercial use. Nova Driving School will only share the image, likeness, appearance, video and sound recordings with its agents, employees, successors, licensees, and assigns. All rights, title and interest in the image, likeness, appearance, video and sound recordings belong solely to Nova Driving School.

READ ENTIRE CONTRACT BEFORE SIGNING– A copy of the contract must be given to the parent and a copy maintained by Nova Driving School.

Student Acknowledgement: In addition, all driver education student enrollment contracts shall contain statements substantially as follows:

  • I have been furnished a copy of the school tuition schedule; cancellation and refund policy; and school regulations pertaining to absence, grading policy, progress, and rules of operation and conduct.
  • This agreement constitutes the entire contract between the school and the student, and assurances or promises not contained herein shall not bind the school or the student. 
  • I further realize that any grievances not resolved by the school may be forwarded to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Driver Education and Safety, P.O. Box 12157, Austin, Texas 78711, or by Facsimile to (512) 463-9468, or electronically to: https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/help/.
